everybody cut footloose!

Friday, January 9th, 2009

Call me a dork, but I’m a child of the 80s and I love the movie “Footloose” and I love the song even more…today is a perfect day to revisit this oldie but goodie because it’s the start of the weekend and all I wanna do is put on my dancing shoes!  (Side note: my brother J and I watched this movie repeatedly when we were kids and we used to re-enact all of the choreography while watching the movie…funny part is that we thought we were sooooo cool.)

It’s Friday and that means it’s time for another favorite song to launch the weekend…this is Ingrid Michaelson’s “The Way I Am”…(the video does scare me a little though…but I still love the words…especially the part about Rogaine)…

snakes on a plane

Woohoo it’s Friday!!!!!!!  Here’s another favorite song to kick off the weekend…”Snakes On A Plane (Bring It)” by Cobra Starship…from the movie “Snakes On a Plane” (which is on my list of favorite kooky cult films alongside “The Attack of the Killer Tomatoes”)…

i’m yours

I’m currently obsessed with Jason Mraz’s “I’m Yours” song…it’s the kind of song that makes all the shitty stuff go away, brings a smile to my face, and reminds me of how grand life can be (a tall feat considering I’m always grumpy and bitter about something).

UPDATE: It’s really too bad that the official video that I originally posted is no longer available…it was a cute video. So I found a pretty good live version as a replacement.  Just ignore the Korean texts.

shirley manson

AK and I have been big fans of the band Garbage since their debut album…not just for the music, but also for the lead singer Shirley Manson, who’s got wicked style and beautifully haunting smoky eyes.  I wish I could make my eyes look like that, and trust me I’ve tried, but it’s a futile effort because I will never be THAT cool.  It’s just not in my genes.  To me, Shirley Manson is the grown up version of Pippi Longstocking (my all-time fav childhood hero).  Here’s “I Think I’m Paranoid” for your listening and viewing enjoyment…
